The Liver Intensive Care Group of Europe (LICAGE) was founded in 1987 by Dr JV Farman, an anaesthetist who worked in Cambridge with Professor Sir Roy Calne on the first liver transplants. The aim was to bring together from throughout Europe workers of all disciplines involved in the peri-operative care of liver transplant recipients.
